TIPP?CITY – Tipp City Area United Way (TCAUW) recently honored Tipp City resident Jesse Chamberlain for service on the Board of Directors for 50 years.

“Not every organization can boast about having a board member serve for 50 years,” Deborah Carr, TCAUW Executive Director, said. “It is an enormous privilege working with someone like Jess; who has and is serving our United Way and community so compassionately. We are blessed to have a longstanding and devoted board member serve with us. Even though we are still fundamentally the same organization that we were when Jesse started serving on the board, there has been changes. Jesse has seen us through those changes, and has grown with us.”

Chamberlain has served in many capacities over the duration of 50 years, including president, vice president, treasurer, audit and finance committee chair and executive committee member. The hours of volunteer time he has given is countless. Currently, Chamberlain is serving as treasurer, audit and finance chair and executive committee member.

Scott Vagedes, TCAUW President, said, “I would like to thank Jesse for the many years of dedicated service to our community. He has continued to help us grow and I am sure Jesse will continue the history of assisting others through our United Way. It has been an honor to work alongside of him in helping our community.”

Board member Stan Evans added, “It has been a privilege and pleasure to work with Jesse on the Finance Committee during my years with the United Way board. He is always a leader in dealing with issues at hand, but he is also such a good mentor for facing future events that will occur on the finance side. His friendship and willingness to help dates back to the 1970’s not only for me, but also for the benefit of the community, including Tipp City Rotary, Tipp City Area Chamber of Commerce, Tipp City Foundation, and the Tipp United Methodist Church to name a few. Because of Jesse, I’m a better person and Tipp is a better community,”

TCAUW offers gratitude for the half century of volunteerism, and looks forward to many more years of working with Jesse Chamberlain.

TCAUW also extends is gratitude, and bids farewell to Evans and fellow board member Pastor Jim Valekis.

“We have been very blessed to have such an exuberant group of people serving on the United Way Board of Directors,” Carr said. “All Board of Directors are volunteers, and give freely their expertise and talent for the purpose of helping others from our community. The Tipp City Area United Way has been very privileged to have their expertise and support.”

Evans served on the board for six years and was the chair for the Nominating Committee. Valekis served on the board for six years, was a part of the Day of Caring committee and served as the chair for the Admissions and Allocations Committee. Both men worked in other capacities as well, during their tenure with our United Way.

Vagedes said, “I would like to thank Stan, and Pastor Jim for their many years of dedicated service to our community. They have helped to lay a strong foundation for the Tipp City Area United Way to continue to build upon. It has been a privilege to work along with these two board members in helping our community.”

Carr added, “The Tipp City Area United Way appreciates all of the past work and support that Stan and Pastor Jim have contributed towards our community, and know they will continue to support our United Way in other facets.”
