Many Ohio Republican voters were surprised to wake up Wednesday morning to discover that “TEA party” candidates Seth Morgan and Sandra O’Brien were soundly defeated in yesterday’s primary election.
Rep. Seth Morgan’s thumping in the State Auditor race came at the hands of GOP endorsed candidate Dave Yost. Morgan, R – Huber Heights, just last month received the endorsement from the Miami County Republicans yet lost his bid in Miami County by more than 1,700 votes. Similarly, in the Republican race for Secretary of State, Jon Husted was able to celebrate early Tuesday evening as the landslide of Ohio votes were cast in his favor 68% to 32%. Sandra O’Brien ran her campaign bid against Husted as a “rogue activist” and as “the Tea Party candidate”.
Husted will now move on to face Democrat Maryellen O’Shaughnessy,Franklin County clerk of courts, in the November election, and Yost will take on Democrat David Pepper, a Hamilton County commissioner and former CEO of the Procter and Gamble Co.
