The Asian Buffet fills you up

Whenever my grandmother would take me out for dinner she would say, “If you don’t get full here it’s your own fault.” She has since departed this earth, but her words could never be more true than in reference to the Asian Buffet & Grill, located at 6999 Miller Lane.

Whether you like Asian food or not, there is something for everyone. It’s like having multiple restaurants in one. The four buffets have a wide variety of items that span all across the globe and into the deep depths of the ocean; certainly enough to fill any appetite. I, however, never even get around to the selection of fruits and salads, nor the many choices for those with a craving for American food.

The buffet features traditional Asian fare like General Tso’s Chicken and Beef & Broccoli, as well as a number of less common dishes, many with shrimp. Some are spicy while others are more mild. There are also seafood dishes, like grilled salmon, crab cakes, fresh shrimp and octopus.

On my first couple visits I passed up the octopus, but I finally built up enough courage to try it. The worst part is looking at it, with the tentacles and everything, looking just like it crawled from the ocean. They are a little chewy, but not bad, with a bit of kick in the flavor. I had a few, just to make sure. Another somewhat rare item featured is frog legs. They are extremely tasty and will add a little extra bounce to your step.

With all that on the buffet, there is still more. A fresh sushi bar, which I still haven’t had the courage or capacity to try. However, I’m sure sushi enthusiasts would be well satisfied with it.

That’s still not all! You can pick out your own serving of steak, chicken, or shrimp with a selection of vegetables to be grilled right before your eyes. That can be a meal in itself, and you can go back as many times as you like.

After all that, if there is still any room left, there is a dessert bar and a soft serve ice cream machine that’s a perfect topper for any meal.

I can’t think of anywhere else where more quality food is available for just one price, a very reasonable $9.99.

The Asian Buffet & Grill is open Sunday – Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

As grandma would say, “If you don’t get full here, it’s your own fault.”
