APRIL HAPPENINGS AT THE MILTON-UNION PUBLIC LIBRARY

library bulldogMondays, April 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th – The Crafty Listeners are a group of women who get together on Mondays from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library. They listen to an audio book and work on projects. It may be needlework, making greeting cards or whatever strikes their fancy. These talented women are always willing to welcome a new member and share their expertise.

 

Mondays, April 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th Buddy Reading at the Milton-Union Public Library from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This program for elementary aged students is designed to help increase reading skills and comprehension. An adult or teenage volunteer will be available to aid your student with their reading goals.

 

Tuesday, April 2nd & 16thTiny Tots program from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library. This interactive program is for children from birth to three years old and their parents or caregivers.

 

Tuesdays, April 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th – The Milton-Union Public Library is introducing a new program for children ages kindergarten and up. The My Book and Me program is an interactive five-week series in which children will write and illustrate their very own books using different prompts each week and various artistic methods of illustration. Week five includes an art show on Saturday, May 4th  for participating children to show off their creations.

 

Wednesday, April 3rd, 10th, 17th, & 24th  – Milton-Union Public Library Story Hours at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Story hour is open to children ages three to five and their caregiver. Programs include puppet shows, stories and crafts. Contact the library at 698-5515 for details about weekly themes.

 

Thursday, April 4th & 11th  – AARP volunteer tax preparation assistance at the Milton-Union Public Library for retirees from10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The volunteers accept clients on a first come first served basis. Please bring photo ID and social security number.

 

Thursday, April 4th – New Friends of the Milton-Union Public Library meeting at 6:30 p.m. Details about the upcoming book sale will be finalized. All Friends members are welcome to attend.

 

Monday, April 8th – Milton-Union Public Library book discussion group, High Nooners, at 12:00 p.m. will discuss Turn of Mind, by Alice LaPlante. For information about joining a group, call 698-5515.

 

Wednesday, April 10th – AARP volunteer tax preparation assistance at the Milton-Union Public Library for retirees from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. The volunteers accept clients on a first come first served basis. Please bring photo ID and social security number.

 

Thursday, April 11th – Local horticulturist, Bob Iiames presents his program, Colors 365: How to Have Color in Your Garden 365 Days a Year at the Milton-Union Public Library. This 6:30 p.m. program will consist of a slide show presentation of various flowering plants that when strategically planted, will provide color throughout the year.

 

Monday, April 15th – Milton-Union Public Library evening book discussion at 7:00 p.m. will discuss Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman, by John Krakauer. For information about joining a group, call 698-5515.

 

Tuesday, April 16th – Milton-Union Public Library Board of Trustees meeting at 7:00 p.m. The public is invited.

 

Thurs. – Sun., April 18th – 21st – Semi-annual New Friends of the Milton-Union Public Library Book Sale. Beginning Thursday, April 18th 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for Friends members. Friday and Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5: p.m. for the public, and Sunday Bag Sale Day from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

 

Thursday, April 25th – Local Florist, Bob Menker, will present his program Antiques in the Gardenat the Milton-Union Public Library. This 6:30 p.m. program will consist of a slide show presentation of how to position and protect our unique treasures for display in our gardens.

 

Tuesday, April 30th – Milton-Union Public Library book discussion group at 3:00 p.m. will discuss A Reliable Wife, by Robert Coolrick. For information about joining a group, call 698-5515.
