City Council Meeting: 04.06.10

City Council met on 4/6 for their regularly scheduled meeting and were welcomed by about two dozen curious Tippecanoe High School seniors. As a part of their government course, seniors must attend a city government meeting and take notes on particular portions of the proceeding.

Council was called to order and began with Mayor Gillis presenting a special proclamation that in Tipp City April is Occupational Therapy Month. Three occupational therapy representatives were there to receive the proclamation from Mayor Gillis.

Resolutions

15-10 Resolution declaring the City’s intent to dispose of surplus items in accordance with law for items with a value of $1,000 or more. Gibson votes no, Resolution Passes 6-1

16-10 Resolution adopting a new official logo for the City of Tipp City. Unanimous, Resolution Passes 7-0

17-10 Resolution authorizes the acceptance of a $7,200 grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Unanimous, Resolution Passes 7-0

18-10 Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute Non-Pool Power Sales Schedule with American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP). Unanimous, Resolution Passes 7-0

Ordinances

Ordinance would allow for the annexation of 130 acres of land along the south side of Main Street east of the current corporation boundaries. Sponsored by Councilman Kessler

Ordinance amending Chapter 37 of the Codified Ordinances relating to employees not covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Sponsored by Mayor Gillis

Motions

1. Motion authorizing the hiring of part-time/seasonal employees. Motion Carries

2. Motion to authorize filling the part-time Storeroom Clerk position in the Electric Department. Motion Carries

3. Motion to authorize the filling of the full-time Foreman in the Electric Department. Motion Carries

4. **Added after 4-6 study session** Motion to request a sign code recommendation from the Planning Board as it relates to Interstate signage. Motion Carries
