Doug McLarty and Rusty Harden will be exhibiting “Uncommon Grace” at Studio 14, Benkin Gallery of Fine Art, Tipp City, Ohio February 25 – April 11 (open reception March 14 2-4).
Doug McLarty’s “Nature By Design” photo series employ eye catching botanical designs, unusual floral combinations and whimsical creations to examine the rich nuances of nature. He makes use of digital technology filtered through photographic like focal patterns, lighting situations and movement to reveal unique patterns and perspectives for the viewer.
“I try to take nature and put it in a context that people don’t generally see,” McLarty said. “Some people mistake my art for paintings, because they say they’ve never seen this type of lighting in photographs. That really makes me feel good.”

Rusty Harden’s “Fallen” series in watercolor was created to make a personal expression about accepting and meeting people in their current circumstances. The organic elements, fallen from their original source, represents individuals affected by time and their experiences. It is not necessary to know from where they’ve come but to appreciate the beauty and dignity they have in their ever changing surroundings of life.
“I found the stories of people that I care about in the fallen blooms and leaves on the ground. Scenes we so easily step on, over, or rake away. Often unnoticed compositions of our lives.”
