LT Ball Relay for Life

This morning, LT Ball teachers and students rallied around those with cancer as they celebrated collecting more than $3,000 for the American Cancer Society. Many of the students and teachers were dressed in pink as the 4th and 5th grades took to the track for a single lap. This week, students learned all about cancer in class. They learned answers to what things cause cancer, how it is treated and that it is not something that is communicable.

Two of the students spoke to the assembly about their friend Jeff Madewell, a West Milton native who at 19 contracted Hodgkin’s disease which resulted in his loss of vision. They explained that while he can’t see very well, he can still play music. They also shared with the students that they attended a benefit for Jeff where “people raised a lot of money, had some food and played music”.

Teachers and staff handed out prizes to students to reward them for their hard work in raising money and awareness. Below are some photo’s from this morning’s assembly.
