Fourteen classrooms at Milton-Union Elementary School began working on a program called Adopt-A-Soldier last week.
The goal of this program is to provide every American Soldier (and family) in the United States Military, past or present, active or inactive, retired or fallen, a commemorative “Thanks for protecting ME” Tribute Care Package (TCP), especially those soldiers abroad, in immediate “harm’s way,” who are fighting the war on terrorism.
Operation “Adopt-A-Soldier” is a national student-based tribute honoring and thanking every soldier who ever guarded America with his or her presence, service and dedication.
The classrooms held a coin drive in hopes of raising $20 per class which will be used to support Operation Adopt-A-Soldier. Students were asked to bring spare change from home into class last week.
Each child is also signing a poster and writing a post card to a soldier who has been adopted by their class. These will be sent to the soldier by the Adopt-A-Soldier program.
