Obit: Phyllis Young

Phyllis Hoyer Young, 90, passed away Dec. 10, 2010 at Garbry Assisted Living in Piqua, Ohio .  Born at home in Tippecanoe City , OH, Nov. 29, 1920 to Walter and Goldie (Harshbarger) Hoyer. She married Donald (Bud) Young Nov. 4, 1939, who preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1976. Also preceding her in death were her parents; infant son Jimmy;  sisters, Marjorie Timmer and Charlotte Dale; and brothers, Jack and Harvey Hoyer. Phyllis is survived by her sister, Pat Kerth of Dayton, OH; son, Philip Don (Diana) Young of Troy, OH; daughters, Becky (Jerry) Hester of Las Vegas, NV, and Nancy (Mike) Dugan of Wesley Chapel, FL; grandchildren: Amy (Tony) Pickett of Milford, OH, Mike (Natasha) Young of Denver, CO, Scott Young of  Cincinnati, OH, Darcy (Vincent) Dugan Fiorello of Gainesville, FL, and Scott Dugan and wife Katrina of Wesley Chapel, FL; great-grandchildren: Sam, Max and Ali Pickett; Ian and Skylar Young.  A 1938 graduate of Tippecanoe High School, Phyllis retired from Tipp City High School cafeteria after 20 years of service in 1980 and was a volunteer at Stouder Hospital in Troy .  She was a member of Tipp City United Methodist Church and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church.  The family wishes to thank Marianne Emmert, the nurses, staff and residents of Garbry Ridge Assisted Living, Piqua, OH for all the kindness, compassion, friendship, and support they have given Phyllis while she lived there for eleven years.   A private graveside service at Maple Hill Cemetery , Tipp City will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County or to one’s favorite charity.  Arrangements have been entrusted to FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W.
