My wife Samantha and I headed to Chicago for a trip a few weeks back. Sam was attending a conference, and I tagged along for a few days of vacation, sight-seeing, and room service. And a chance to finally try some real, Chicago-style pizza.
Monday at Yolk
Samantha and I needed to get her conference booth set up, but first, we tried out a local restaurant called “Yolk.” For breakfast lovers like me, reading the menu was like climbing the stairway to heaven. I’ve always been a fan of breakfast foods—ever since I can remember, it’s been my favorite meal of the day. The Enslen clan even sometimes has “Breakfast for Dinner” just so we can have an excuse to make ham and cheese omelets or banana pancakes.
The menu at “Yolk” was insane. There were nine kinds of omelets (I had “When in Rome,” with Italian sausage, tomatoes, and spinach); a full page of pancakes, waffles, and and French toasts; six kinds of Eggs Benedict (Sam had “South of the Border,” with chorizo and cilantro); and at least thirty other enticing plates. You could eat breakfast every day there for a month and never have the same yummy meal twice.
