It was an early muggy August morning but the participants would not be deterred.
The THS Swim Team was up early to set the course, get the pool ready and begin registration. At 7am sharp, the whistle went off and the first wave of swimmers began churning up the waters of the Tipp Aquatic Center. They quickly transitioned from the swim to a run and took solace in the shade of the Tipp City Park and the bike trail. And just as quickly as they started, they sprinted across the finish line – greeted at the finish line with cold water, fresh fruit and a cheering section.
Women’s results (age 18+): 1st – Katie Clark (41:20.77), 2nd – Amy Goldschmidt (57:07.18). Men’s results (age 18+): 1st- Cody Rasmussen (31:55.53), 2nd – Jason Hill (33:14.77), 3rd – Danny Hugh (34:49.78), 4th – Jeff Stephen (41:32.25).
Relay results: 1st – Jack Gaskins & Cody Fox (16:46.58), 2nd – Augusta Grescowle & Jason Bruns (17:34.75), 3rd – Hanna Gaskins & Jake Schumann (19:46.72), 4th – Alex & Lonna Sedam (23:38.06).
The lone 17 & under participant was 7-yr old Jacob Goldschmidt who completed the race in just over 42 mins! Congratulations to all the participants and THANK YOU for supporting the Tippecanoe High School Swim Team.
