Dr. Richard Adams, State Representative for the 79th District of the Ohio District General Assembly will be speaking at the Miami County Republican Men’s Club Quarterly breakfast on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. at the Piqua Country Club. The 79th District covers all of Miami County, and parts of Darke County. Dr. Adams has been representing this area for two terms. In 2010 the Republican Party regained control of the Ohio House of Representatives which has put Representative Adams in a unique leadership position. His leadership roles at the local and county level are too numerous to note here, but they allow him to ably represent this region by bringing a special perspective to Columbus.
Dr. Adams will present his views of current legislative initiatives (including Senate Bill 5) and how the new Governor’s legislative agenda is being received in the Ohio House. Dr. Adams will give us brief updates on several initiatives before the House and an informal Question and Answer session, if time allows. Dr. Adams holds a B.S., M.S., and PhD Degrees from the Ohio State University in Agricultural Education, and Education Administration. He served as Miami County Commissioner, Trustee at Edison State Community College, and was founding Superintendent of the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School District. Among his current Committee assignments in Columbus are the House Comment and Labor Committee, and Finance and Appropriations Committee. He is the Vice Chair of the House Financial Institutions, Housing, and Urban Development Committee. “This will be a unique opportunity to see what is happening at the State House and to get to know your State Representative a little better” party officials said.
