Summer Burglaries and Break-ins on the Rise

Home Break-insSummertime in Tipp City brings long and lazy vacations, swimming in the pool and fun at the many parks in the Miami Valley. These activities however also welcome bored teenagers, drug fiends and petty thieves to take advantage of Tipp City homes that are unoccupied or improperly secured.

This week has seen downtown home and garage break-ins on South Street and several homes on South 3rd Street and South 2nd Street. The thieves are taking advantage of homes and garages with unlocked doors or doors that are locked but are easily broken into. The thieves often remove a few things of worth (enough that they can carry) and then leave other valuables intact. South 2nd Street has been hit multiple times in the past week.

Tipp City Police have increased their patrols in the affected areas, but do not have any suspects identified. Residents are cautioned to keep windows and doors locked, and to call the Tipp City non-emergency number (937-667-3112) to alert police if your family will be out of town on vacation. If you see something suspicious (strange vehicles, people hanging out in alleys during the evening, etc.) alert the authorities so that they can investigate the situation.
