West Milton Rotary October 17, 2011

Charlie Parmenter, program host, invited Rotarian and Superintendent of Milton-Union Schools, Ginny Rammel, as our guest speaker at the October 17 meeting of the West Milton Rotary Club.  She gave the club members an update on the progress of the Milton-Union Schools.  She shared the results of a National study in which Milton-Union was named one of only two school districts in the three county area that earned the top rating across the state for the highest achievement at the lowest cost!  Three separate studies were performed within the larger study and in each; Milton-Union was in the top third of all Ohio schools for highest achievement and in the bottom third for spending.  Ginny also mentioned
other achievements for the previous school year:  All three buildings and the district earned an “Excellent” rating on the ODE report card; the ACT college entrance exam scores in math, science and the composite scores were outstanding and the highest in 20 years, 10 years and 4th highest in 20 years respectively.  The graduation rate was the highest ever in Milton-Union history at 95.8%.  Other topics covered in her presentation were information on the upcoming 17 mil RENEWAL operating levy, federal and state budget cuts ($900,000 cut this past year), how the district is living within the school budget and several new initiatives for the 2011-12 school year.
