My name is Jenny Winterrowd and I have attended M2M for 8 years. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Damon, for 15 years; and we have two sons, Jacob (9) and Dalton (6).
When I first came to M2M I was looking for a play group for our first son. While I ended up finding a wonderful play group for my son I also found a Christian support group of women for myself. At that time I was feeling a little lost and lonely as a new mom and didn’t know quite where to turn. My husband Damon was very happy that I had found other women to talk to as this group showed me that my feelings were normal and they had answers for me. For the last 7 years, we have been blessed to belong to a cell group that arose from my relationship with several of these women and their husbands. We enjoy studying the Bible together, socializing and I know my two sons have good Christian friends.
I have never been in a group of women this big before and felt so safe and comfortable. They truly care for and are there for each other. I know now that God had a plan for me when I came looking for a play group eight years ago; He led me to people that would help me build a relationship with Him, and to prepare me for the fight of and for my life.
On January 17th 2011, I was told that I may have breast cancer. It started as a lump in my breast that went for a year misdiagnosed, then when the second lump appeared, I decided to have a mammogram. After a series of Doctor exams and tests I was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer.
I now have been through 16 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery and am ready to start radiation. It has been a tough road for me and my family but God has answered our prayers and lightened this load. When the fear and worry become too much to bear, you must lay that at the Cross, and ask Jesus to carry you.
My family and I are still amazed with the support that we have received from family, friends, M2Mer’s, and even strangers. God, I know has a plan for me, and in a way I am excited to see what he has in store for us next. Although I’ve always believed in God, now, I am a witness.
