Jeanene Kay Myers
(June 11, 1939 – October 13, 2011)
Jeanene Kay Myers, age 72, passed away after a brief illness on October 13, 2011. Born June 11, 1939, Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Faye and Leo Tumbleson, husband Frank R. Myers, and stepdaughter Susan M. Vukusich. Kay is survived by her daughter Joellen Heatherly (Jim) of Tipp City; stepson Joe Myers (Patty) of Xenia, Ohio; son-in-law Robert Vukusich (Mary) of Houston, Texas; and brothers Jim Tumbleson (Helen) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Kendall Tumbleson (Shelby) of Manchester, Ohio. Grandchildren: Steve Vukusich of Houston, Texas; Keith Vukusich of West Palm Beach, Florida; Joe and Matt Myers and Jennifer Marietta of Xenia, Ohio; and Claire and Grant Heatherly of Tipp City, Ohio.
A graduate of Wilmington College and Wright State University, Kay was a beloved first grade teacher for 32 years, teaching at Beavercreek and retiring from Tipp City schools in 1994. She shared her love of reading with hundreds of young learners, sometimes teaching multiple generations of families. She was active in the Tipp City United Methodist Church where she served on several committees and was a board member at the Main Street Preschool. She was active in the American Association of University Women, Miami County Retired Teachers Association, and Delta Kama Gamma sorority for educators. She enjoyed book club, volunteering at The Clothesline, and working at the polls for the Miami County Board of Elections. She was vibrant, active, and admired by many in her community. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 1:30-3:00 pm at the Tipp City United Methodist Church, 8 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio, 45371, with a memorial service beginning at 3:00 pm in the Great Hall sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tipp City United Methodist Church in Kay’s name.
