(December 2, 1929 – June 26, 2011)

Parsons Jeanne H. age 81 of Tipp City passed away Sunday June 26, 2011 at Hospice of Butler and Warren County, Middletown, Ohio. Born December 2, 1929 in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late John and Lucille {Pfoutz} Harris. She and her parents moved to Tipp City in 1936 where she remained a resident. Jeanne was a 1947 graduate of Tippecanoe High School and a 1950 graduate of Springfield City Hospital School of Nursing where she was chosen as the sole student representative to the State Nurses Convention. She married Alva M. Parson in 1950 and they were married for 55 years until he passed away in 2005. She is survived by her 2 sons; Tom and John Parsons both of Texas, 2 grandchildren; Crea and Evory Parsons and one great grandchild; Lillian Parson. Jeanne had worked for Aeroproducts before entering nurses training. Following her training she received her license as a Registered Nurse, and became a surgical nurse at Springfield City Hospital. She left to be an office nurse and bookkeeper for a local doctor. While her husband was establishing his insurance business she worked as Head Nurse on the night shift at Stouder Memorial Hospital in Pediatric and Geriatric ward. She was the first executive secretary of the Miami County Board of Realtors establishing their monthly newsletter as well as many other duties, she left there to enter the Insurance business with her husband receiving her insurance license in 1969 and was co-owner of Parson Insurance Agency in Tipp City. Jeanne was an active member of her community serving in many organizations; Tipp City Jayceettes, Past President and Trustee of Tipp City Women’s Civic Club, Past President of Tipp City High School Alumni Association, Tipp City United Fund, M C of THS Top Scholars Banquet and Tipp City Community Minded Women’s annual style show, charter member and co-founder of the Tipp City Players, where she directed and appeared in several productions and served as a board member. Jeanne was a member of the historical society, American Legion Auxiliary Post 586, served on the board of elections as Clerk and presiding Judge, chaired the Tipp City Mum Festival Home Beautification contest, had been the chairman of judges for the Mum Queen’s pageant and served as a judge for the 1988 pageant. She began the first Red Hat Chapter in Tipp City in 2004 and was Queen of Tipp City Red Hat lunch bunch in May of 2004. Jeanne would greet you with her warm smile at the Tipp City United Methodist Church where she was not only a member but a part time receptionist, and had been a Sunday school teacher for preschoolers. She was a life member of Springfield Community Hospital Alumni Association; she taught babysitting classes for Tipp Monroe Community Services, served as a nurse at State 4 H Club Congress and 4 H Conservation Camp, as well as being the THS band camp nurse for 10 years. Her commitment to community continues; she was a Red Cross Nurse with the Bloodmobile in Tipp City and Troy, a member of Miami County Insurance Women, Miami County Independent Insurance Agents Association, past treasurer and life member of Tipp City Soroptimist Club since 1973, and Tipp City Area Chamber of Commerce. As if that were not enough Jeanne had several hobbies as well including; photography, music (accordion and organ), sewing and cooking. Her presence in the numerous organizations and about town will certainly be missed and her lifelong devotion and commitment to neighbor and community will be a constant reminder of the generous heart of a wonderful lady . Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday July 2, 2011 at Tipp City United Methodist Church 8 W. Main St. Tipp City, Pastor Bonita Wood and Reverend Dan Glover officiating, burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-8 PM at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, Ohio 45371 www.fringsandbayliff.com and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made in Jeanne’s name to the Church Memorial Fund or to Hospice of Dayton.
