Press Release: 2010 Looks Bright for Downtown Tipp City

As the year comes to a close, the Downtown Tipp City Partnership reflects on another successful year and a bright 2010.  The Downtown Tipp City Partnership’s (DTCP) accomplishments in 2009 include an IRS 501c3 non-profit status, well-attended downtown events and the establishment of the Tippecanoe Canal Jumpers Base Ball Club.  The DTCP’s goals for 2010 include membership into the Ohio Main Street Program, a new membership coordinator and sponsorship of a downtown event this spring.

2009 started off with bang as the DTCP prepared an application for the Ohio Main Street Program (OMSP).  Though disappointed not being accepted into the program, the DTCP took advantage of the Network Membership level sending representatives to the Heritage Ohio Conference in Cleveland, training sessions and a very productive planning session hosted by the OMSP.  “We have been very impressed with Heritage Ohio’s Main Street Program,” said Greg Enslen, 2009 DTCP President, “Tipp City has really made an impression throughout the state.”  Heritage Ohio presented Tipp City with the “Best Promotional Event” award for Windows on Tippecanoe co-sponsored with Tipp Monroe Community Services in May.

Annual events sponsored by the DTCP in 2009 included the Tipp City Antique & Artisan’s Show, Tippecanoe HarvestFest and the winter’s Yuletide Gathering.  The DTCP introduced the Tippecanoe Canal Jumpers Base Ball Club in August.  In front of a crowd of over 400 spectators at the Willowtree Inn, the Canal Jumpers lost its inaugural match to the Clodbuster’s of Dayton 7 – 4.  Look for a full schedule of vintage 1860 rules base ball fun next year.

The 2009 DTCP Board of Directors include Enslen, Logan Rogers (Vice President), Sue Rambeau (Treasurer), Reed Spencer, Mark Mabelitini, Kathy Taylor, Jon Crusey, John Kessler and Phil Cox.  Logan Rogers will be the DTCP President in 2010.  Along with Executive Director, Matt Owen, they will be leading the organization into the future.  “The level of energy this group generates is very impressive,” said Owen, “The Partnership is always looking for positive ways to enhance our downtown community.”

Ohio Main Street Program membership will be the organization’s primary goal in 2010.  A new membership and volunteer coordinator position is being created to assist Owen.  Work has also begun on a spring event for the downtown that will create a new buzz around town.  The DTCP is also looking into grant opportunities like its existing Façade Improvement Program.  Sam & Ethel’s sign restoration was a wonderful example of this successful program implemented by the DTCP’s Design Subcommittee. For more information call the DTCP at 937.667.8300 or visit our website at http://www.visittippcity.org or http://www.dtcp.org. The Partnership is a 501c3 non-profit corporation and a National Trust for Historic Preservation Organization with the mission to enhance, preserve and promote downtown Tipp City.
