Press Release: RE/MAX Professionals Open Doors in Downtown Tripp City

The Newsome Team of RE/MAX Professionals has recently opened a new satellite office in downtown Tipp City. This isn’t your typical office, however. It is a house with a lot of history, once owned by Dr. William Crane, and the family members that make up the Newsome Team are excited to revive it. Walking into 121 W. Main Street in Tipp City, you are taken into a world of hospitality, where the warm atmosphere surrounds you and invites you to stay a while. Here, you’re not just working with a real estate team to find a home, you’re joining a family.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony sponsored by the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce to publicly celebrate the opening of the RE/MAX downtown Tipp City office will be held on February 25, at 11:00am. The whole team is having fun with the idea of selling homes in a home, a refreshing alternative to an office building, which tends to produce a less relaxed, “sterile,” environment. When they bought the house over the summer, it hadn’t been touched for six years. The summer was spent gutting out the house and completely remodeling. The team did everything themselves, with help of course from professionals for electrical, plumbing, and roofing needs. This makes it easy to say, “Welcome to our home.”

They had no idea the house would be such an excitement not only for them, but for the entire town. Whenever the Newsomes would gather on the porch for a break from work, they found themselves in conversations with curious passersby excited to see the Crane House come back to life.

The history of the house has certainly made for an interesting time for the Newsome Team. The house, originally the Union Biblical Seminary of Dayton, was built in 1854. When Dr. Crane purchased it in 1891, he had it moved to its current location in downtown Tipp City. Dr. Crane’s widowed daughter-in-law, Mattie, inherited the house in 1916 where she lived for the rest of her life. It has even been said her spirit lingered around for awhile after her passing. Through the years of the Crane family ownership, the house was a center for entertainment. Dr. Crane liked throwing lavish parties. In the book Ghosts, too: The Supernatural in Ordinary Lives by Joanne Duke Gamblee, one of the last owners describes the house as one “which needed people in it,” and whenever she threw a party, it was like “reawakening the spirit of the house.” With the constant traffic flowing through, that is exactly what the Newsome Team has already begun doing.

Quoting from an article she once read in “Southern Living,” Marti Newsome succinctly describes their new office: “for she’s a grand old lady, but her petticoat is a little tattered.” It is a magnificently aged house with a storytelling history and many years of memories yet to come- a perfect fit for this real estate team. Hailing from the main office 2760 S. County Rd 25A, the Newsomes are happy to be so sincerely welcomed to Tipp City and they hope to pave the way for fellow RE/MAX Professionals Realtors considering a downtown Tipp City location.

Making up the Newsome Team are: Marti and Red Newsome (Real Estate Consultants), David Besecker (Buyer’s Specialist), Chris Newsome (Listing Specialist), and Amy Newsome-Coble (Office Administrator). Larry Lemonds is the broker both for the main office and the Tipp City location. They are dedicated to helping people of the Northern Miami Valley find the perfect home and doing the best they can within their team, without limiting themselves to a small geographical area. The move has brought the team to a new level, where they have become part of a tight knit community. The office opened for business October 15, 2009, and is in full operation, having already completed several closings. Additionally, they usually end up giving about 3-4 tours a week of the house. The Newsome Team found their dream home; visit or call 937-667-6677 so they can help you find yours.
