Editor’s Note: An open letter from Cathy Ross regarding this weekend’s fundraiser at the Tipp City Firehouse.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those responsible for the recent Waffle Fry Benefit held in my honor in Tipp City. It was the most incredible experience of my life. The firefighters are an awesome group of men with huge hearts. My coworkers at the City are some of the most unbelievable people you will ever meet. They have taken such good care of me through surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation that I don’t know how I would have survived without them. Add to that the other people who provided food, drinks, and merchandise to help raise funds and it’s a feeling that is too amazing to describe.
I am a 3 year cancer conqueror who has recently faced a reoccurrence. As I am sure you can imagine, this disease has taken its toll on my health, my family, and my finances. But here is a poem that I love about the things cancer cannot do:
Cancer is so limited…
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the Spirit.
I would also like to thank all that attended the waffle fry to purchase waffles, popcorn, cotton candy, or any of the other items for sale. Most of all, I thank you for your support, your hugs, and your prayers. I will never forget the outpouring of love I received that day.
