"The Acoustic Project" with Lee Dynes and Jacob Jolliff

Lee Dynes returns to his hometown with mandolin virtuoso, Jacob Jolliff on their first tour as The Acoustic Project. This talented guitar and mandolin duo performs a mix of progressive, new acoustic music that incorporates the styles of traditional bluegrass, American folk/pop and contemporary jazz. Lee and Jacob met their first year at Berklee College of Music in Boston and together they share a musical passion that is unique and contagious. Both musicians are considered prodigies that have grown into their enormous talent and put it to powerful use in this recent endeavor. As featured players in other bands, Lee and Jacob have cultivated distinctive ways of accompanying and soloing. Each duo performance is one-of-a-kind, as audiences are treated to a full-range of their remarkable abilities with intricate guitar lines, fast flowing mandolin and spontaneous interplay. Performing both originals and standards, The Acoustic Project covers a wide musical spectrum in a program that has a heavy focus on improvisation and hard-driving style while showcasing Lee and Jake’s agility on their instruments as well as their infectious energy as a duo.
Jacob Jolliff, at the age of 22 is a veteran performer having toured professionally since age eleven and has shared the stage with mandolin legends including David Grisman, Mike Marshall, Ricky Scaggs, Ronnie McCoury and Chris Thile. Jake has toured extensively with the New England-based group, Joy Kills Sorrow and the band has since released two albums on Signature Sounds receiving rave reviews, “….worthy of Grammy nomination.” (Folk Alley, 2011).

Tipp City native, Lee Dynes has continued to achieve major musical milestones since receiving a full-scholarship to college to study guitar performance and composition. He has had opportunities to perform at premier jazz venues across the country. Recently, he completed the second international tour with his trio, The Jazz Tellers and reviews called them “…easily one of the most exciting jazz groups on the planet.” (Sidney Gig Guide, 2011). This year, Lee signed with Jazz Revelation Records to record his original tune for the compilation CD, Octave, presenting the finest jazz composers at Berklee. A recent review of his composition said, “Dynes is a wonderful writer and guitarist and his original tunes feature both his progressive, compositional voice and his acrobatic guitar playing.” (BIRN, 2011).
