Teacher and poet, Ruth Ann Peck will speak about her life and work when she visits Tipp City Public Library at 2 p.m., on Saturday, March 13.
Ms. Peck won the 2008 Dayton Daily News poetry contest with her work “The Silent Grass”, and that same year her collection of poetry, Rowing Through the Night was published. She teaches a class at The University of Dayton’s Lifelong Learning Institute called “Discovering the Poet Within You”. During the first hour of her visit, Ms. Peck will speak on the writing process. During the second hour, members of the Tipp City Library Scribes will share some of their work. The program is open to all.

Brown Bag Program
Needle-worker extraordinaire, Karen Jamison will lead a Brown Bag Lunch Program, Make and Take Crochet, at noon on Wednesday, March 10. She will teach the half-double crochet stitch and guide participants through making an eyeglass case, sunglasses case, coupon purse, or clutch bag. All supplies and crochet hooks will be provided. All skill levels are welcome, including novices. Registration is appreciated.
Photo Contest Drawing
For those who have not yet entered the “Remember February Fondly Photo Contest”: Time is running out. Entering is easy. Simply visit the photo display, identify the snow-covered landmarks, and fill out your entry form. Entries with the most correctly identified sites will be entered into a prize-drawing. A winner will be selected on March 13.
Pinochle Night
Learn and play Pinochle, a great card game that requires skill and luck for success. It’s planned for Wednesday, March 10. A short how-to session is set for 6:30 p.m., and the game begins at 7.
YOUTH PROGRAMS
Grades K – One
It’s time to “Get Crafty” at the next after school event for kindergarten and first graders at 4:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 11. There will be lots of new crafts to try, and plenty of cool materials to use. Registration is required.
Ages three to five
Bring your preschooler to Story Time Yoga at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, March 12. Children will learn poses just right for this age group. The program leader will tell a story through yoga poses. Registration is appreciated.
FRIENDS MEETING
The Friends of the Tipp City Public Library will hold their monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 11.
