TIPP TALK – Fireman Waffles at the Tipp Mum Festival

“These Waffles are Selling Like Hotcakes!” Yes, it’s true, the famous Tipp Fireman’s Waffles were selling well on Saturday – in fact, my spies tell me that at one point, the line stretched ALL THE WAY TO THIRD STREET.  But I don’t think the lady overheard in line to buy the famous waffles realized just how ironic she sounded!  Of course they are selling like hotcakes – they are like hotcakes!  We love the Waffles, but I can’t believe that they’re still only a quarter.  I’m thinking it’s time to up your prices if you have people standing in line all day to buy your product!  Good job out there guys – and keep up the good work!

Tipp City Mum Festival: Speaking of the Mum Festival, it was very busy both days and while it might look like just a big crazy collection of booths and such, a lot of great buys and interesting offerings can be found by perusing the booths and food shops. The only thing I would want to see different would be more participation by local merchants – maybe there is some way to tie in the downtown with the Mum Festival.  After I visited the Mum Festival, I took a swing through the downtown and I swear I saw a tumbleweed rolling down Main Street!  The 51st Annual Mum Festival, the longest running annual festival in Miami County, is one of the strongest traditions we have here in Tipp City and it’s great that the festival is still going strong after so many years. Check out tippcitymumfestival.org to see pictures and for more information. Thank you to all the Mum Festival staff and volunteers for pulling off another great year! And if you are interested in helping out next year, shoot them an email – they’re ALWAYS looking for volunteers.

Tax Talk:
After the City Council had 80 people show up at their last Council meeting and they decided to table the controversial tax rate increase that they were pondering, talk around town has been about nothing but the tax.  Councilman Bill Beagle appeared on Tipp City’s “Get Social” radio show and discussed the council’s decisions and reasoning for suggesting the new tax.  It was fascinating to hear about the amazing amount of work the council has put into finding ways to save money and raise revenues.  I’m still interested in hearing your opinions, so send them along to me and
I’ll share it with our readers.  Write me at the email below if you are FOR or AGAINST and give me your reasoning, and as soon as I receive any opinions, I’ll summarize them.

Get Social Radio Show: Speaking of Tipp City’s only local live radio show, you’re still not listening? For more information, including instructions on how to tune in, please see www.getsocialradio.com or www.blogtalkradio.com/getsocial to find out how to listen live or to listen to old episodes, including the Bill Beagle appearance on episode 12.

All-Nighter at the Big Robot: Fifteen young people enjoyed the latest  all-nighter at Big Robot Game Cafe on Saturday night, September 26th!  For just $15, they got to play all night, plus lots of food, drinks and pizza were available for purchase.  The kids had a LOT of fun grouping up and playing all the latest video games with their friends.  The next all-nighter will be held on HALLOWEEN NIGHT October 31st – again, $15 will get you in for the whole night and it will again be limited to the first 20 people to sign up and pay.  Plus anyone coming in costume will get a coupon for a free beverage of their choice!  Get down to Big Robot in downtown Tipp City or check out their website at www.bigrobotgamecafe.com for more information.

COLD! Hey, when did it get cold?  It seems like only a week or two ago it was in the 80’s, and now I’m hearing frost warnings on the nightly news. Are you kidding me? Guess it’s time to dig out those boxes of jackets and long pants and hats!

Hear something interesting for “Tipp Talk”? Shoot me an email at genslen@yahoo.com.  And don’t worry – I won’t quote you unless you want me to!
