UPDATE – School officials confirm that there was no fire during the homecoming dance, and that the fog machine was suspect in the alarms going off.
At 9:20 this evening I received a call about a fire at the High School .Grabbing my phone camera I shot up to the school to see what it was all about. A single fire truck was at the scene as several hundred students were shivering outside. I approached the fire truck and spoke with one of Tipp City’s finest and they stated that the fire alarms seem to have been tripped by the smoke machines at the dance. There was conjecture that the alarm triggers were faulty however the fire chief had not at the time made an official determination as to the cause.
The students were able to go back into the dance about 25 minutes after being evacuated, just a bit cold but still excited about the rest of the evening.
