The NASA Aerospace Education Services Project (AESP) is teaming up with WACO Historical Society and UTC Aerospace Systems to provide a teacher workshop on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.
The goal of the program is to excite young minds and bring hands-on engineering and the adventure of space exploration to life for children. Participating educators will be introduced to the International Space Station and the role rockets play in its construction. The workshop uses these topics as the basis for interdisciplinary activities for the early learner. The activities integrate mathematics, technology, and English language arts skills. The teachers will leave with a 3-2-1 Lift Off teachers guide with emphasis on hands-on involvement, data collection, observation, exploration, prediction, interpretation, problem-solving and development of language skills.
This workshop will provide an Ohio professional development verification of participation, catered lunch, coffee and snacks, and funding for substitute teacher pay. It will be held at the WACO Air Museum, 1865 S. County Rd. 25A, Troy, Ohio.
