Community Co-op Homeschool Group Visits Columbus Zoo

Have you ever heard of the Zoo Scene Investigators? The Zoo Scene Investigators are a highly specialized group of individuals who work hard to keep the animals at the Columbus Zoo safe. When a thief tried to break in and steal from the zoo recently, the ZSI squad was on the call, and within two hours had the criminal behind bars. The most impressive part? Not one person in the ZSI squad is older than thirteen years old.

Ok, so actually, the Zoo Scene Investigators is a program that the Columbus Zoo put on for the Community Co-op Homeschool Group (as well as a few extra friends we brought along). The children were broken into color coded groups of six, with three GPS systems given to each team. As the children used the satellite to find their way around the zoo, they came across clue codes which told them how and why “John Doe” had broke into the zoo the night before. After they solved the mystery, all of the children saw John Doe being locked up by the police. The staff at the zoo went all out, and really made this a special trip for the kids.

With more than fifty children taking part in the program, Community Co-op had a fabulous day of excitement and learning with some of their best friends. All of the children loved this program and look forward to next year’s trip to the zoo.
