City council agreed to continue support of a downtown coordinator position at the current $30,000 level while encouraging the Downtown Tipp City Partnership to expand its funding sources. A proposal for the city to increase its commitment to the organization by $2,000 per year from 2010 through 2012 failed Jan. 19 when no council member stepped forward to sponsor the required resolution.
A second resolution continuing city support at $30,000 for another three years passed unanimously.
The partnership was formed by the city and the chamber of commerce in 2006 to create a part-time partnership director and part-time chamber executive. This year is the final year of the original three-year agreement. The city has paid $30,000 a year, including this year, toward the position salary
