On April 8, Broadway Elementary first grade students hosted special guest musician, Mr. Dave Pinkerton, at the Thursday enrichment program. Pinkerton has been an English handbell ringer for 37 years. He is a retired music instructor for Troy Junior High School and currently directs the Chancel Bells at Troy First United Methodist Church as well as the Tintinnabulators at the Tipp City United Methodist Church.
Pinkerton performed several solo pieces, encouraged some of the children to play the bells, introduced the many different types of bells, and played “Do Re Mi” while the students sang. He showed the students how to ring more than one bell at a time and how to make a bell tree that he played with mallets.
