New Leadership at Cable Access Commission

The Tipp-Monroe Cable Access Commission has seated new leadership in their recent organizational meeting effective May of 2011. The 10-Member Board is responsible for the operation, programming, and policies of the local cable access television station currently on Channel 5 of the Time-Warner Cable line-up.

Werts Steps Down
Long-time President Dave Werts, a member for over 15 years and President for several terms, stepped down as President and commission member last month. Mr. Werts is involved with many other community efforts, and will continue in those capacities. Taking over as the new President is current Township representative Bob Archer. Joanna Pittinger of Tipp City is now Vice President, and Wendy Bauder, also of Tipp City is Treasurer. Also joining the Commission as its newest member is J.P. Borchers of Monroe Township who replaced outgoing member Brian Stewart, also a long-time member of the Commission and previous Treasurer.

Commission Board
The Tipp-Monroe Cable Access Commission consists of six voting and four “ex-officio” members. Three voting members are appointed by Monroe Township, and three voting members are appointed by Tipp City Council. One ex-officio member each is appointed by Tipp City Council, Tipp City Exempted Village School Board, the Monroe Township Trustees, and the elected members of the Tipp-Monroe Cable Access Commission. The Commission establishes rules and procedures to be approved by the City Council and Township Trustees for the public access station, KIT-TV, Channel 5. The Commission determines the type of programming to be permitted, reviews specific programs, arranges scheduling, and otherwise maintains primary responsibility for the public access station. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Township Building.

Programming Schedule

The programming schedule is available on-line at the City’s web-site, at Tippcityohio.gov., and also at TippNewsDaily.com. It is also available in Tippecanoe Gazette, Troy Daily News, and Weekly Record Herald. Anyone can also receive the programming schedule in advance via e-mail by calling the station at 667-8622. Video streams of the City Council, Township Trustee and School Board meetings, and other local activities can be downloaded from the internet by logging on to kittv.pegcentral.com.

Membership
The membership is as follows. Bob Archer, Monroe Township Representative, J.P. Borchers, Monroe Township Representative, Doug Lohnes, Monroe Township Representative, Joanna Pittenger, City of Tipp City representative, and Wendy Bauder, City of Tipp City Representative. Ex-officio members are Ron Thuma Monroe Township Trustee, Joe Gibson Tipp City Councilman, and Jon Kronour Superintendent of Tipp City Schools. There is still a vacant Tipp City position on the Cable Access Commission. Anyone living within the city limits of Tipp City can apply by contacting the City Manager’s office, or any Cable Access Commission Member.
