SR 444 rerouting in Fairborn to begin next week

For those Tipp Citians who frequent Wright Patt or Wright State University:

Greene County (Friday, Oct. 5, 2012) – As a measure to enhance security at entrances to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the rerouting of State Route 444 through the city of Fairborn is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Oct. 9.

SR 444’s new route through Fairborn will be Dayton-Yellow Springs Road to Kauffman Avenue to Central Avenue to Dayton Drive. The mile-and-a-half section of SR 444 that will be closed off and which currently bisects the Wright-Patterson’s Area A and Kittyhawk is on federal land.

ODOT will begin installing new SR 444 signs Oct. 10. In addition, restriping work will be performed for lane use changes at the intersections of Central/Dayton and Dayton/Broad.
