Success by Six

CrossRoads is completing the teaching portion of its Spiritual Formation For Kids series with a messages entitled “Success by Six” this Sunday at their regular worship service.  Keying off of the recorded experience of the child Moses, Pastor Jim describes the concept behind this message this way:

“Moses was an Israelite, but he was raised in Pharoah’s household, and was recorded as being “mighty in words and deeds.”  His Israelite mother obviously built an ark of protection around him before she released him into Pharoah’s world, the school system of the day; but his Egyptian mother did her part too, educating him thoroughly in the “arts and letters” of his world.  And as a result of the efforts of both, this boy was ready to do amazing things in life, and with God.”

The purpose of this message is to cast a vision for parents to really work on preparing for their child’s for success in school.   In keeping with the theme of “Spiritual Formation for Children,” it focuses on the development of a specific discipline in the life of child—the kind of self-discipline that it takes to develop “delayed” gratification success skills.  They’ll also be covering principles emphasized by the United Way’s “Success by Six” program.  If you want to learn more, join them this Sunday at their worship center on 3rd and Broadway.  Services begin at 10:30 a.m., and you can reach Pastor Jim at Jim.Valekis@gci.org for more details or copies of previous messages in the series.
