On Friday, April 30, Broadway Elementary School staff was treated to an authentic Thai luncheon, prepared by Mrs. Helga Thornton, Computer Technician for Broadway and Nevin Coppock Elementary Schools.. Mrs. Thornton lived in Thailand for four and one half years where she learned to speak, write and cook Thai.
The delicious feast included pork and noodle soup (Ba Mee Nam Mu), green sweet chicken curry (Gaeng Keow Wan Gai), pork salad with mint, peanuts and ginger (Lap Mu), spicy sauce—fish sauce, lime and red Thai chilies (Nam Pla), cucumber salad  Yam Thang Kwa, and cooked rice. To complement the ambiance, Mrs. Thornton set the table with Thai placemats, played Thai background music and presented a Power Point slide show about the tiny southeast Asian nation. Everyone at Broadway felt like they had taken a quick trip to Thailand.
