Do you have a go-to author – an author that you have read every book written by him/her? Mine is Nicholas Sparks! I have read every book he has written! There have also been some movies based on his books, which are always wonderful!
That being said, when you read an author frequently, you can often see where the story is going. I felt that way when I read The Best of Me… Mr. Sparks’ books are always romantic and easy to read. Usually I feel they are a good vacation read. With Spring Break approaching I would highly recommend this book.
The Best of Me is a love story between two small-town high school sweethearts – a forbidden love – a first love. Over time they grew apart. She went off to college then married and had children. He was sent away to prison. Now middle-aged, their paths cross again. They reminisce about the past and are confronted with the choices each has made. Although the ending can be predicted, it was still a wonderful read as they characters in this book ask, “whether love can truly rewrite the past”.
